About GRO Community:
God Restoring Order (GRO) Community is a mental healthcare provider that specializes in trauma recovery services for males of color ages 5 and up. GRO services are grounded in an understanding of the neurological, biological and psychological effects of trauma. GRO services include mental health and wellness, stress management, and community outreach.
Job Description:
Purpose of Position: As the Research Scientist, the employee will be responsible for working with the CEO on leading research projects and experiments. This role will support the key research areas at GRO Community across various data collection projects. These elements include but are not limited to; start-up activities, day to day support of study assignment, data collection, data management, data analysis, and quality improvement (QI).
The ideal candidate must have extensive experience in market, commercial, or academic research, data science, or international development, and a keen interest in working in a range of different research areas surrounding re-entry, social services, gun violence and community support in the black and brown communities. As the Research Scientist, this individual will apply the expertise in survey research methods and complex data analysis to the problems presented by GRO’s client base.
Essential Functions:
Serves in a research capacity for a various unit within the organization, which may include the following duties and responsibilities:
- Works with CEO to develop a research plan including timelines and major tasks necessary to complete deliverables, track progress, and ensure timely completion of major milestones and final deliverables.
- Contributes to GRO as a thought leader, taking on a primary role in the design and completion of multiple lines of research related to GRO Community and its entities.
- Inspecting authoritative publications to discern understudied topics.
- Analyzing and interpreting patterns and trends while minimizing risks.
- Ability to demonstrate multiple project management including the ability to manage and direct technical aspects of a range of research projects.
- Anticipating research issues and promptly resolving them.
- Coordinate information related to research across various internal and external entities, including staff, partners/vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Assumes responsibilities and assists in research and creative activities for multiple designated research areas for multiple site locations.
- Assists with collection and control of research data and subject information. Develops work plans in accordance with research objectives.
- Maintains accurate data collection of all study data. Conduct accurate and timely subject data collection and maintain accurate record keeping. Ensures that all study data are maintained in accordance with appropriate patient confidentiality, HIPAA, and IRB regulations.
- Assists in specialized administrative, technical, or editorial duties connected to research and creative activities.
- Effectively translates research findings for broad and varied audiences using a variety of deliverables including (but not limited to) policies, reports, trainings, presentations, webinars, video recordings, and data dashboards.

Travel: Some travel between sites and GRO entities, 10% minimum
Qualifications:
Required Education:
- Master’s degree in criminal justice, Sociology, Social Work or Psychology required.
- PhD or other terminal degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, or Psychology or related field preferred.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ research experience required; including seeing projects through to publication.
- Experience with IRB Process (Institutional Review Board).
- Publications Experience, qualitative and quantitative analysis.
- Program evaluation experience.
- Data Base experience.
Preferred Experience:
- STATA experience.
- Nvivo experience.
- Experience writing and obtaining research grants preferred.
- Experience or interest in gun violence, re-entry and or social services in the Black and Brown communities.
