About GRO Community:

God Restoring Order (GRO) Community is a mental healthcare provider that specializes in trauma recovery services for males of color ages 5 and up. GRO services are grounded in an understanding of the neurological, biological and psychological effects of trauma. GRO services include mental health and wellness, stress management, and community outreach.

Job Description:

Purpose of Position: The impact of trauma on behavior has been significantly demonstrated post covid. The numbers are growing with regards to youth coming in contact with the Criminal Justice System and Mental Health Services. As a School-Based Clinician, this counselor will provide Tiered levels of treatment to support the development of a trauma-informed school culture.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinating workshops and schoolwide events to spread understanding and awareness about the neurological, biological, psychological effects of trauma as well as recognizing
    trauma-related behaviors/symptoms
  • Trauma focused assessments inclusive of ACES
  • Neurofeedback Therapy
  • Multi-Systemic Therapy for court-involved youth
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Group Therapy that focuses on reducing trauma-related symptoms inclusive of cognitive restructuring, emotion-regulation and social-skill building
  • Workforce Development for youth

Competencies:

  • Ability to interpret data to inform treatment planning
  • Good organizational skills, to manage caseloads and meet documentation expectations
  • Proficient in communication
  • Highly motivated
  • Empathy for victims of trauma that comes across naturally

Work Environment: Onsite/Various school locations

Location: Chicagoland Area

Expected Hours of Work: Varies

Travel: Must have access to reliable transportation to GRO Community and community sites

Qualifications:

Required Education:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling or psychology required.
  • Masters degree in social work, sociology, psychology or criminal justice preferred.
  • State licensed credentials preferred

Experience:

  • Experience with counseling or social work in school setting preferred
  • New graduates highly welcome to apply. Willing to train.
